# Creating a User in Oracle Cloud

Perform the following steps to create a user in Oracle Cloud:

1. Login to Oracle cloud console with administrator privileges.
2. Click **Identity & Security** from the navigation menu.
3. Select **Users** from the **Identity** section**.**
4. Scroll down the navigation menu and select the **User Type** as **Local**.
5. Click **Create User**.
6. Select **IAM User**.
7. Enter the following in the **Create IAM User** page:
  1. In **Name**, enter the name of the user. For example, **BritiveUser**. There should not be any spaces in the name; only numerals and special characters (such as underscore, hyphens, periods, * and @) are allowed.
  2. Enter a **Description**.
  3. Enter **Email**(for the email of the user). This is an optional field.
  4. Click **Create**. The new user details are displayed.
8. In the **User Information** tab, select **Show** to see the **OCID**.
9. Copy the **OCID**. This is required while configuring for onboarding the Oracle cloud application in Britive.
10. Next, you need to add the API Keys in the newly created user configuration. Scroll down the **User Details** page and click **API Keys** under **Resources** from the navigation menu.
11. Click **Add API Key**. The **Add API Key** window is displayed.
12. In the **Add API Key**window, you can add the API key in three different ways:
  - **Generate API key Pair**: The API key pair is automatically generated.
  - **Choose Public Key File**: If you intend to upload a public key file that you have generated, you can select this option.
  - **Paste Public Key**: You can directly paste the content of the public key file that you have generated.
  - Alternately, you can also download the private key and public key directly from the **Add API Key**window.

Note:

You need to upload the public key in Oracle Cloud. The private key is required for the Britive configuration.
13. To add the API key pair, click **Add**. The **Configuration File Preview** is displayed.
14. Click **Close**. The Fingerprint is displayed in the user details.
15. Copy the **Fingerprint** of the public key.
