# Creating a Custom Role

A custom role needs to be created for Britive to perform operations within GCP.

- To scan all folders and projects in an organization, create a role with the configuration shown in [Create Custom role for GCP organization](/v1/docs/custom-role-in-gcp).
- To scan a specific set of projects only, create a role with the configuration shown in [Create Custom role for GCP Projects only](/v1/docs/creating-a-custom-role-for-gcp-standalone-application).
