# Configuring Britive IdP

Britive provides a default identity provider named **Britive**. Users might want to use this as an IdP for third-party users or contractors. In that case, the Britive password policy must match the organization's standards and requirements.

Note:

Any changes to MFA settings and password expiration policy take effect after 30 minutes.

Follow these steps to configure the default Britive identity provider policy options:

1. Log in to Britive with administrator privileges.
2. Click **System admin** -> **Identity Management -> Identity Providers**.
3. Search (Type = DEFAULT) for **Britive,** the default identity provider, and click **Manage.**
4. Click the **Delete Identity Provider** button to delete this IdP.
5. Click **Edit** to configure the Britive IdP**.**
6. Select **Enable MFA for root user** to enable/disable MFA for the root user.
7. Select **Enable MFA for users** to enable/disable MFA for users.
8. Password policy:
  1. Update the **Password length** as per the requirement; the default is eight.
9. Account Lockout Policy:
  1. **Lockout Duration In Minutes**: Enter the number of minutes a locked-out account remains locked before automatically becoming unlocked.
  2. **Number of Attempts**: Enter the number of failed login attempts before an account is locked.
10. Password Expiration Policy:
  1. **Never Expires**: Select this if you want to use the same password, and it never expires. If you choose not to use this, select the duration (in days) after which the password expires.
11. Click **Update**.
