# Creating a Custom Role

Follow the steps below to create a custom role in the GCDS.

1. Log in to [Google Cloud Directory Sync (GCDS)](https://admin.google.com).
2. Click on **Account**->**Admin roles**.
3. Click **Create new role**.
4. Enter name as Britive API Role.
5. Click **CONTINUE**.
6. Select the following privileges under **Admin API privileges**:
  - Organization Units->Read
  - Users->Read
  - Groups->Read
  - Groups->Update
7. Click **CONTINUE**.
8. Click **CREATE ROLE**.
